29-year-old twin sisters Erika and Svenski Ditchtermark attribute their youthful looks to their nailbeds. "Vee sleep naked on zem,ja and it keeps boys away."
You know, I’ve seen these all over the place for a while. I thought it was just some sort of yoga mat…but, after reading that NYT article, I bet you can guess my thoughts?
This is the road socialized medicine will lead you to. Doctors don’t do their jobs (because it’s easier to do nothing and still get paid the same low sum), so patients end up sitting on nails to try and fix their back pain. *rolling eyes*
My impression is that Swedes feel so “secure” and have had their emotions so dulled by 75 years of a nearly universal social “safety net” and, more recently, relentless enforcement of politically correct speech and thinking that they are simply bored out of their sculls. Maybe the end result of so much security is that they’ll do almost anything for a little stimulation, akin to caged animals that mutilate themselves.
Semi-related question … how has that Dux (Duxiana?) mattress (oops, bedding) place on Rte 1 (oops, Putnam Ave) at the top of Greenwich Ave fared in the recent economic unpleasantries? Perhaps it folded a long time ago, but I’m just not aware of that fact, having moved away in 1998. Anyway, in 1998 they were asking $5,000 for their queen-sized mattress, which seemed a little rich to me, what with me being from Glenville (thank God for Mississippi). Inquiring minds want to know.
