If we’re running out of American union members, let’s import some bean eaters

This is a human rights issue and has nothing to do with politics – trust me

Democrats: “12 million illegals need legal status so they can join unions and vote for us”.

“We need a regular process by which the 12 million people who are part of our society can be fully part of our society, and they need documents,” the congressman said. “It’s important for the labor market of this country because as long as there are 12 million people without documents, there are 12 million people who can’t stand up for their rights as workers, and that means there are 12 million people who can be used by unscrupulous employers to keep down wages and to prevent unions from organizing.”

Sherman was joined at the press conference by Rep. Judy Chu, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee* and Rep. Lloyd Doggett. Each member thanked President Obama for his executive order to stop the deportation of certain illegal immigrants, but they said it was only the first step in a process Congress needs to finish.

*Called “the dumbest woman in Congress” which is at least open to question when there are so many contenders, but she did ask NASA reps if the Mars Rover would show the flag planted on the planet by our astronauts on their previous visit, and, attempting to call Tea Party members racists, lost the word for “sheets” and claimed that they dressed in …”um, clothing with a name”, an apt title for the lady herself.

Slightly misleading headline, Chris. These particular 12 million people are already here, and the good folks in the video are merely trying to make them citizens and voters. No need to import more. They’re here and they’re ready to join their fellow culinary compatriots citizens and vote heavily Democratic now. And in part because of this demographic trend, the Republican Party will be basically finished at the national level after this election.

Right you are Inagua. The GOP is finished. That whiny genius Rick Santorum said it best this week…

“We will never have the media on our side, ever, in this country. We will never have the elite, smart people on our side.”

    You can say that again!

    • You say that (media control of the masses) like its a good thing, DB, which I have no doubt you believe it is. What most disgusts me about aging “student radicals” is that as they approach their dot rage they more and more reveal themselves to be the conformist sheep I always suspected they were and exactly the people they so vehemently denied they were when I shared classrooms with them in the 1970s

Every time I see a story like this I’m struck by the fact that this country has actually chosen to endure the current economic crisis.

Were the immigration laws enforced and the illegals removed, and welfare eligibility standards tightened to require recipients to perform productive labor, joblessness, and with it much of the crisis, would be solved.

The word smart should have been in quotes because it was obviously facetious. My shih tzu noticed that.

We will watch with amusement as the Times, NBC et al circle the drain and finally, with a gurgling sound, flow to the sewer.

Dollar Bill – I wonder if you fully comprehend what an Obama reelection will mean. It will mean that the Bush/Obama economic policies of borrow and overspend cannot be reversed for at least a generation. All these trillions of borrowed dollars that was wasted on wars, bailouts, stimuli, and entitlements has gone to money heaven. And all the country has to show for it is the debt.

The result of the Moochers winning and the establishment of a full blown welfare state will be lower economic growth, higher unemployment and a lower standard of living. The only beneficiaries of this system are the Moochers, the administrators, the government employees, and the crony capitalists. If you are not one of these favored few, then you are acting against your own economic self-interest, as well as the economic interest of the commonweal. I suspect that many Demcratic voters cannot connect the dots between their votes and the economy. Free stuff from the government sounds good, but the price is really very, very high.

Inagua: You forgot to mention that it is also ultimately unsustainable, as the European welfare states will very soon discover.

  7. Inagua

LA – You are correct that it is unsustainable, but we differ about the time frame. It will take a long time to implode, perhaps several hundred years, like the Roman Empire. One can always hope for a course correction before the implosion, and the changes in Peru, Canada, Norway, Sweden, and Eastern Europe are moderately encouraging. But the 20-year economic future for the US looks grim because the majority of our fellow voters simply do not understand what is happening or why. Bush and Obama have caused major economic damage, and I see no reason to believe that their policies will be curtailed in the near term.
