A local family needs our help

From Greenwich Free Press: GoFundMe Launched for Sean Mecsery, Familiar Face of Cos Cob TV

Sean Mecsery has been a Cos Cob fixture since he was a small boy.  Many know him from his business, Cos Cob TV, which opened in 1945. Sean’s father operated the business in Cos Cob, and Sean worked there while attending Greenwich High School. In fact, the store was Sean’s second home growing up.

After college graduation, Sean stepped in and began handling the day-to-day operation of the business.

Under Sean’s guidance, Cos Cob TV has become one of Greenwich’s premier audio/video businesses.

Over the years, the business moved a few times within Cos Cob. Since 2007 it has operated at 5 Strickland Rd

Unfortunately, for the past two years Sean’s new job has been battling Glioblastoma, a devastating brain cancer.

With no approved treatments for this disease, Sean is now undergoing exploratory treatments, which have put a heavy financial burden on his family.  .

Since 2019 Sean’s wife, Cassie Mecsery, has been running the business in Cos Cob.

GoFundMe was launched on earlier this week by Cassie to help defray the cost of the exploratory treatments. Cassie said Sean takes daily medications and infusions, many of which are not covered by insurance.

Depending on the amount of funds raised, any money left over would go into a college fund for their daughter Calista (6) and son Westley Stephen (2).

I don’t personally know the family (although I did buy a television there for my mother; the price was excellent, and the service even better), but ever since the readers of this blog were so extraordinarily generous in supporting my son John during his own journey off this mortal coil, I’ve always been alert to ways to help out the similarly afflicted. The Mecsery family could surely use more than just my thoughts and prayers, so I donated here:
