Will it be a rehabilitation facility for high-end executive drunks and crack-heads?

UPDATE: The “pending” turned out to be another rental, not a sale, but I’m amused by what I wrote (aren’t I always?) so I’m leaving this up.

229 Stanwich Road, which has been around for years as either a rental or a potential purchase, is reported pending. Current price shown is $4.995, but that was set back in September, so the final price may be less.

The place has always struck me as more of an institutional structure than a personal residence, and the market seems to have agreed with that assessment over the past 20 years. But it would be perfect for an exclusive, $100,000 per month group home rehabilitation center, which the ADA rules permit even when local zoning regulations don’t. Five or six executives, a secretary to answer calls and pretend that the big shots were still wreaking havoc on Wall Street, a gym, professional kitchen, swimming pool — it could be done.

Or that’s what I’d do, if I were looking to utilize it at its highest and best use.
