Seweid had been having family problems because she is becoming “westernized,” investigators said.
It seemed like a sketchy story to begin with; sounding as it did like so many of the "hate crimes" rported on camus recently that have been subsequently exposed as hoaxes, by the Left, ever on the alert for fake news, somehow failed to notice. The Daily News, naturally, led the way:
The incident is another in a growing list of bias crimes across the city since Trump’s election. Cops said that from Nov. 8 through Nov. 27, there were 34 reported incidents compared to 13 in the same period in 2015.
“American Muslims, and particularly men and women who wear religious attire, are being increasingly targeted by hate nationwide in the wake of the Nov. 8 election,” said Afaf Nasher, executive director of the New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
“I was very shaken up ... I’m definitely traumatized,” Seweid said. “I’m really scared.”
Oh, the horror! But wait, there's more! Those 34 "bias crimes" the News implies were inspired by Trump? The article finally breaks them down:
Of the 34 incidents between Election Day and Nov. 27, 18 have been anti-Semitic in nature, compared to five in the same period last year. Five of the incidents have been anti-gay, and five others, anti-white. Two targeted Muslims and one was anti-black.
More than half the "incidents" were directed at Jews, five were anti-white (that would be our African American cohort weighing in) and just two were directed at Muslims, with exactly half that number: one, now exposed as a hoax.
So from 34 to one; quite a Trumpian crime wave, quite a dollop of sticky, brown fake news. Those truly concerned about violence and hate directed at Muslims might better spend their agonies on the citizens of Aleppo, who are being slaughtered in untold numbers, every day. You remember, Syria, don't you? Or did you stop when victory was declared back in 2013?
