And Rogues Hill property values continue to slide off our Grand List rolls.

NYT Met Bobby Bonilla sold his house at 390 Round Hill Road for $5 million in 2011. The buyer put it back on the market this past April at $5.8 and on Friday sold for $3.5. Owie.

The town has valued and taxed this house as though it were worth $5.3 million (and down from its previous estimated value of $7.5). The grand list has been adjusting back country values downward for a decade now, but can’t seem to keep up with the neighborhoods’ fall. Just as Hartford has been planning its budgets on squeezing back country’s residents’ capital gains, we in Greenwich have long looked north of the Merritt for the solution to our spending gaps.

That’s not happening. Time for Cos Cob and Glenville residents to shoulder their fair share, which I estimate will be about a 50% tax hike.

Plus what Hartford piles on, of course.
