Happy New Year!

It’s Rosh Hashanah, and I wish all the blessings of the new year to my Jewish friends.

Speaking of Jewish friends, the late Howard Fast, a dyed-in-the-wool (millionaire) commie who was still a wonderful man and a close pal, told me this tale:

A Jewish girl was packing for the weekend when one of her gentile sorority sisters asked where she was going.

“Home for the weekend to celebrate Rosh Hashanah with my family”.

“Really? And how do you do that?”

“We attend synagogue, pray, then enjoy a wonderful meal and blow the shofar”.

(Patting her friend’s wrist): “Oh, you Jews are so good to your help.”
