A second D.C. cop commits suicide after the riot.

Acting Chief Robert J. Contee III announced Smith had died while addressing a closed session of the House Appropriations Committee.

“We honor the service and sacrifices of Officers Brian Sicknick, Howard Liebengood, and Jeffery Smith, and offer condolences to all the grieving families.” he said. 

“The costs for this insurrection — both human and monetary — will be steep,” he added. 

It may well be that somehow the two: the January 6 riot and the suicides, are related, but nothing in this story shows that they are.
