Having been put to a vote of the membership and approved, Greenwich Country Club closed on the adjoining property at 25 Doubling Road yesterday, paying $9.650 million.

Maybe they’ll move their clubhouse there. The current one, built as a replacement for the one burned down in 1960, has always struck me as a little bit shabby: it’d be okay for a municipal course and its round-shouldered, blue-collar members, I suppose, but not as the home-away-from-home for Masters of the Universe and their sterling families. We all snicker as we pass.
