The seems like a pretty good deal
/5 Choctaw Lane, in King Merritt Acres, listed at $1,337,500 and is already pending after 12 days. If you’re tough enough to stand up to the social opprobrium that will come your way for living on a street with a culturally appropriative name (and, worse, perhaps, the name of a southern tribe of savages) this would be a good place to escape Westchester taxes and enjoy some real space. I worked with a couple some years ago who were looking for something like this, in this location: he was a fireman in Rye Brook, or thereabouts, and they wanted a home they could fix up over time while staying within a quick distance from the firehouse. We never did find a suitable home, and I wish this one had been available then.
By the way, I also like COLDWELL BANKER listing agent Hazel Heggie’s write up foR the property:
Downsizing and looking to avoid steps? Or just enjoy the single level style of living? Spectacular - private, quiet, lakefront - solid mid-century home, clean, ready to receive your vision. With low taxes, calculate your monthly !! King Merritt Acres - a sought-after enclave of intertwining streets and cul-de-sacs, with most homes situated on about an acre of privacy. A walk/jog friendly community with little car traffic. This lakefront enjoys the longest stretch along the sizable pond. A gently sloping/level yard to the water invite the outdoors in. The home is solid, clean, spacious, and move-in ready. Bathrooms are mid-century but clean and usable - Kitchen is comfortable. The bright basement, opens to the large yard. FAR calculation allows 7,938 sqft, so accept, update or start anew !!
In view of the lightning speed with which this went from listed to pending, I suspect it’s been snapped up by a builder, but I do like the novel concept Heggie introduces: “accept it”. Excellent advice for first-time homebuyers.
