Democrat resident urges this one weird trick to solve our town's woes

“Remember, children, the poor have their troubles, as well as the rich”. John Caldwell (admonition to his grandchildren, John C. Fountain and siblings, circa 1910)

A Mr. John Cooper (I’m hoping he’s not the John Cooper I went to high school with, but alas, he might well be*) urges independent voters to get out and vote for Democrats today, across the board. Why? Because greedy Republicans have been too focused on keeping property taxes low — lower than Mr. Cooper thinks they should be — at the expense of the poor.

Let’s knock the mill rate, the Republican Holy Grail, off its pedestal and replace it with a measurement that includes our net humanity, with kindness and care for all citizens of Greenwich.

There are a lot of John Coopers heading to the polls today, and on the ballot. Don’t be a John Cooper.

*Yup, same guy. Lives in a very nice house in Rock Ridge on which, presumably, he makes up for his ridiculously insufficient tax burden by voluntarily sending twice the amount: “a Westchester”, if I may coin a term, to our tax collector, every year.
