Cry me a rivulet
/By Bonchie;
The Huffington Post, a mainstay in the liberal media-sphere, was recently acquired by Buzzfeed. That’s led to a restructuring that saw 47 journalists (to the extent that any of the hacks at that outlet can be considered such) fired today.
As you can expect, the gnashing of teeth has been immense.
While I’m not usually going to root for someone to lose their job, I find myself feeling incredibly indifferent about this situation. The Huffington Post is a left-wing rag that has never been shy about its support for job-killing, liberal environmental policies. When Biden killed the Keystone XL pipeline, destroying at least 11,000 well-paying jobs along the way, nearly every left-wing journalist in existence cheered. If you were to have polled the employees at The Huffington Post, you can bet at least 95%+ were in support of Biden’s move. To them, the people who lost their jobs were just a number, a necessary cost to allow rich left-wingers to virtue signal about climate change.
Yet, when job losses hit closer to home, we are supposed to suddenly care and feel sympathy? Besides, I’m assured that the job market for building solar panels is all the rage right now. Perhaps it’s time for a career change?

[T]e contrast in levels of outrage here is stark, and it shows just how out of touch and insulated those in the news media truly are. When the little people in flyover country lost their jobs due to pointless government action, journalists at The Huffington Post had no problem writing approvingly without a hint of sympathy for those that would end up out of work. They should expect to be treated with the same disregard when the alligator comes for them.
