(Circling back) It occurs to me that I should explain the perhaps obscure reference in the title to the time (1776) when Washington’s army, marching from Boston to NYC, camped in what was then a large meadow at the top of Palmer’s Hill, now Havemeyer, across the King’s Highway from what’s now Hillcrest Park.
