Jimmy Cabrera's got the financial backers and 8-30g, and he's not afraid to use them

A week after submitting plans for a seven-story apartment building on Church Street, Cabrerra’s back before the P&Z with a plan to add three stories to Greenwich Woods nursing home and turn it into housing.

There would be a mix of one-, two-and three-bedroom units. Parking would increase from 119 spots to 248, plus 8 handicap parking spaces. The parcel is in the RA-4 zone.

Cabrera’s track record suggests that he’s good at lining up investors and getting projects started before bailing out and pocketing a nice fee. But whether he’s going to still be around at the finish line years from now or someone else will be there in his stead, these 8-30g projects will keep coming. There’s money to be had, and it will be had, just as Greenwich will.

And keep an eye on what’s in the hopper up in Hartford. The combination of big-money developers and liberals who despise Greenwich is a powerful one.
