Best real estate story of the day — and it's only 7:25 [CORRECTION: the story's fake; amusing, but it didn't happen. Damn]
/A scouser in England, one Jonathan Lewis, moved into his new home and noticed a void underneath the stairs that had been boarded up. Taking a hammer to it, he opens a hole and discovers a rag doll sitting on a small chair holding a note:
Dear reader/new house owner
Thank you for freeing me!
My name is Emily, my original owners lived in this house in 1961. I didn't like them so they had to go. All they did was sing and be merry it was sickening. Stabbing was my choice of death for them so I hope you have knives.
Hope you sleep well
The new homeowner reacted as any person of sound mind might.:
'Some of my friends have told me to put my house back on the market and move out but I think it's just a laugh.'
The teacher added: 'I'll be honest, I found the whole thing hilarious. I'd probably do the exact same thing.'
He's having a Halloween party next month and he says he'll leave Emily sitting right in her original position, note and all. She'll be the main attraction.
UPDATE: The story was too good to be true, but I’m leaving it up in the hope that it will inspire other home owners to leave their own hidden “house-warming” surprises.
