NOW THEY’VE GONE TOO FAR: ‘No vaccine, no booze’: Quebec introduces new restrictions for the unvaccinated. “Liquor and cannabis stores are only accessible to people who are vaccinated against COVID-19.”
As a tool for coercion, the approach may have some effect, and I’m sure the stoners can easily go back to buying their weed the same way they were before the government began selling it for the tax money, but Quebec, like most parts of the world, has a population of alcoholic-dependent citizens [including their claimed-to-be much-loved Indians] and the abrupt cessation of booze will kill them.
Banning alcohol sales was tried all over the world by dictators, and an international study showed that they had no effect of transmission of the disease, but “[t]he immediate effect was an increase in alcohol related emergencies including alcohol withdrawal, related suicides, and methanol toxicity.”
Of course, Canadians are on record as wanting the unvaxxed to submit or die, so this is probably a perfectly acceptable effect.
And politicians love this stuff: they forbid restaurants to serve alcohol at, say, 10:00 pm, and close bars entirely. Pennsylvanias’ governor made forbidding the sale of all hard liquor , anywhere ,one of his top priorities back in March 2020 and relented some months later not because he cared about the disastrous effect of his edict on people, but because his subjects were driving out of state to buy liquor, and depriving him of tax revenue.
