“Well, yes, certainly the odds are equally horrible for all races”, Florence Toogood, Harvard professor of Bias and Gender Ceramics told FWIW, “but your know these playful darkies, they just can’t calculate odds the way whites and Asians can. It’s our burden and our duty to protect them from temptation, and the way to do that is to bar them from spending money on bad things, like menthol cigarettes, fried chicken, and of course, lottery tickets.”

There’s already a model for protecting colored people from themselves, and both federal and state governments are already using it. Because studies have determined that 85% of black smokers smoke menthol cigarettes, the FDA is banning them. And rather than wait for the federal ban to take effect, on Tuesday California voters took matters into their own protective, caring hands, and voted to stop their sale immediately.

No state wants to ban the sale of all Powerball tickets, of course, because they’re too addicted to the loot, but forbidding black people and brown people to buy them would be a compassionate compromise between the need to protect Massa’s children from exploitation by the state, and the states’ legislators’ constant, desperate appitite for cash.
