I imagine that millions of clueless Americans are in the same boat

"I thought all the Superchargers were free until I got the car and found out the Tesla Superchargers actually charge like crazy," Erwin said.

And wait until they discover that, without gasoline taxes to pay for road maintenance, owners of electric cars will have to pay user fees.

But wait, there’s more!

Here’s a fun story, by the way, of a Brit who drove her Nissan Leaf on a visit to Granny’s last week. 120 miles away, it took 5-and-a-half hours to get home.

BTW, I’ve noticed another benefit of Musk’s Twitter attack: the same mainstream press that refuses to report on the government security forces controlling social media content are happy to, finally, start opening up on some of the fatal weaknesses of electric cars. They’re doing so as part of their attack on Tesla, of course, but even the dumbest of drivers, like the Australian quoted above, should be able to figure out that what applies to Tesla will also affect other brands.

Not all drivers: you can’t underestimate the stupidity of greens, but many, I hope.

Update from Gid the Petroleum User, recounting his recent experience driving to the wedding of one of the green side of the family’s children:

“When I drove up to Lake Saranac, it took around 4+ hours, and I didn’t stop for gas.

Poor Cousin Bill’s journey, from the same distance, took NINE HOURS as he searched for places to charge his stupid electric Hyundai. When he found one, he would of course need to wait half an hour or so for a charge station to free up.
