Has land appreciated this much? We'll find out

1810-2020

22 Sumner Road $3.5 million, 6.78 acres, is new today at $3.5 million. The owners paid $1.250 for the land in 2020, razed the 1810 house on the property and had a new one designed before changing their minds. Anything’s possible: a 4-acre lot spit off from this one in 2007 sold that year for $2.420 million, but still, this seems quite a jump.

There’s a wonderful tribute to the previous owner, the late Alice O’Gorman, by her neighbor, Greenwich Time columnist Claire Tisne Haft, here. Very much worth reading — (disable Java on your browser to get around the paywall), because she was a cool old lady.
