Because Martin Luther King Day only honors a man who fought segregation, and Blacks went a specific celebration of their helpless victimhood.  “We deserve [our own] holiday”, State Rep Anthony Nolan said, speaking for those victims.

If you thought that our non-black state workers would insist on foregoing pay on Juneteenth and insist instead that their wages be given to their black colleagues, as reparations for the sins committed while their own European and Asian ancestors were busy living impoverished lives outside the United States, you’d be wrong.
