Gov. Phil Murphy Gives the Left's Agenda Away on Gun Control

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy (D) praised the details of the bipartisan framework from the Senate on the issue of gun control but noted this should be used to pursue even more aggressive restrictions.

In a statement on Sunday, Murphy said the framework is a great step "in restoring sanity to our national dialogue" on firearms and "while this agreement is only a narrow first step, it is recognition that the ability of the gun lobby to block any and all common sense gun safety laws by its mere presence is waning and reform is possible. The door has cracked open. We must open it wider."

Back in 2013, responding to the Sandy Hook massacre, our CT. Legislature passed a package of laws hailed as “the toughest gun laws in America”. The bill included a ban on “assault” rifles; gun magazines with a capacity of more than 5 10 cartridges; guns capable of accepting a magazine with a capacity exceeding 10; age limits; red flags; mental health requirements; the sale or transfer of guns without a state-conducted background check (there’s already a federal requirement), required a state permit to buy ammunition, etc., etc. The response of the leader of the anti-gun organization behind the law after it passed? “It’s a good start” (Lorenzo Quinkin, leader of the Bridgeport Crips, agreed, teing FWIW, “it’s gonna be tough to get all my boyz registered and approved, and they sho’nuf gonna miss dere Glocks, but if it leads to safer neighborhoods, isn’t it all worth it?).

With the exception of Mr. Quikin, the ultimate goal of these people is the complete disarmament of the citizenry, and every little step they can take is an advance towards that objective. Which is why people like myself oppose every concession, every “common sense” proposal (and there may be some), every attempt by the government to “crack open the door”. It’s all subterfuge.
