We know that they're this stupid, but are their constituents? Probably; the same morons voted these people into office in the first place

California Democrats vow to investigate high cost of gasoline in their state

Hahahahahaha! Depending, I may go look up links to support what I’m about to say but for now, take my word for it that California not only taxes gasoline more than almost all other states, but it’s shut down refineries, and has imposed so many different regulations on what gasoline can be sold, which blends can be sold at specific times of the year and specific regions of the state, that gasoline wholesalers can’t just bring in more gas from other states to accommodate demand.

Why don’t the politicians admit this? Either they are too stupid to recognize what they’ve done, or they’re in deep denial (never forgetting the power of “and”) and don’t want to admit that all their special “green energy” rules come with a cost. The same for yokels they rule and, for that matter, the state’s Republicans, whose “answer” is to cut 50¢ or so from the tax burden. In a month or two, the price of gasoline will make that 50¢ look like the meaningless con job that it is.

Californians, you voted for all this on both the state and national level: suck it up.
