Price cut out west

20 Oak Street, now reduced to $3.297 from last August’s starting price of $3.5. Purchased for $2.950 in ‘06, the owners have tried to sell it from time to time, beginning in 2015 at $4.5 million, but have always ended up renting it out instead; perhaps that’s because would-be buyers, lured by the description of its architecture deign as “shingle style” balk when they pull into the driveway and discover that that description has been rather generously interpreted.

Tastes differ, of course, but for the same money, I’d head up to the top of Stanwich and pick up 48 Crown Lane for $3.295.
