Shocking, if true, and it looks as though it (the rape, not necessarily the flight to Indiana) might very well have happened

Ohio law does not prohibit abortion in cases or rape or incest, so there could not have been a “denial”. But the girl does seem to exist.

Ohio man arrested for rape of that 10-year-old who was said to have been sent to Indiana for an abortion

An Ohio man was charged Wednesday with raping and impregnating a 10-year-old girl, whose story of traveling across state lines to get an abortion was told by President Biden following the repeal of Roe v. Wade.

Gershon Fuentes, 27, of Columbus, was arrested Tuesday and confessed to sexually assaulting the child at least twice, according to the Columbus Dispatch.

A detective testified in court that local child services alerted the police about the child’s circumstance after her mother had reached out on June 22, the paper said. The same investigator confirmed that the child was then brought to Indiana, where she was given an abortion.

Authorities are cross-referencing DNA from the clinic in Indianapolis with samples from Fuentes.

Judge Cynthia Ebner set a $2 million bail for Fuentes, who is being held in Franklin County jail and might be undocumented, according to the Dispatch. He is facing a felony charge of rape.

….

The original story was relayed by Indianapolis OB-GYM Dr. Caitlin Bernard, who said the child was six weeks and three days pregnant, making it too late for her to receive abortion care under Ohio’s restrictive abortion law triggered by the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision.

The story’s obvious flaw is that current Ohio law exempts from its abortion ban pregnancies caused by incest or rape (there’s a proposal pending that would eliminate that exemption, but it won’t even be voted on until November) so there was no need to take the poor girl across the state line, except to make point.

But still a horrendous act.
