Burger King goes meatless in Austria

Daniel Payne

Jul 17th, 2022 1:20 pm

We all remember it: At least once in the 1990s, everyone's mom went on a vegetarian kick and announced that the household would be meat-free from thenceforth. This usually lasted about nine minutes.

How long, I wonder, do you think Burger King's new vegetarian fixation will last? I'd say at least half an hour.

Just shortly after the news that one in three Burger King burgers sold in Belgium is meat-free, and in some locations even one in two, BK reveals that from now on, almost the entire Burger King range, including the popular classics, will be served on a plant-based basis in Austria. ...

"At BURGER KING® we are making meatless indulgence a permanent fixture on our menu, because meat no longer comes naturally to everyone. With the provocative question "Normal or meat?", we want to show that we take our customers and their needs seriously. Because from now on, we also serve almost our entire range on a plant-based basis", says Jan-Christoph Küster, Marketing Director of the TQSR Group, the Austrian master franchisee of Burger King.

UPDATE: Curious, I looked up the question “was Hitler a vegetarian”, and DuckDuck returned the following results. It turns out, the vegetarian cult has long tried to discredit this “myth”, because it conflicts with the cultists’ claim that eschewing meat will produce a gentler, more docile human being; cuddly lambs, if you will. And the search results show that the truth deniers are found exclusively among carrot heads (including, of course, the NYT), while every other source says that he was. DuckDuck reports, you decide, but this list is certainly thought-provoking and something to chew on.

First, the soy burger, human nature can be changed and perfected crowd:

Myth Busted: Hitler Was Not a Vegetarian - NaturalNews.com

Just ask anybody: They'll tell you so. Trouble is, the assumption is false. Hitler wasn't a vegetarian at all. Consider the historical facts: • Biographers who wrote about Hitler (and who knew him quite well on a personal basis) openly describe his love for Bavarian sausages and game pie ("game" meaning wild meat from birds and other creatures).

Adolf Hitler and vegetarianism - Wikipedia

Near the end of his life, Adolf Hitler (1889-1945) followed a vegetarian diet. It is not clear when or why he adopted it, since some accounts of his dietary habits prior to the Second World War indicate that he consumed meat as late as 1937. In 1938 Hitler's doctors put him on a meat-free diet and his public image as a vegetarian was fostered, and from 1942, he self-identified as a vegetarian.

Adolf Hitler Was a Strict Ethical Vegetarian

The first thing to note is that Hitler's vegetarianism is not a historical myth. It was well documented at the time and mentioned by many people who knew him personally. A 1937 New York Times article made note of Hitler's lifestyle, saying "It is well known that Hitler is a vegetarian and does not drink or smoke.".
