Battle Lines

You’d expect someone from the CIA to engage in this hyperbole, but it’s discouraging that the Financial Times is doing it, too.

Mr. Hayden is the fellow who lied to Congress repeatedly, up to 200 times, by some counts, about illegal FISA wiretaps — “we never spied on Americans”, waterboarding — “it never happened” — and anything else he thought they shouldn’t know about. He was one of the 50 “national intelligence experts” who claimed that Hunter Biden’s notebook “has all the earmarks of a Russian conspiracy”, and he’s still going strong. Today’s Republicans are the most dangerous people he’s run into? Someone’s contemptible here, but it’s not the people demanding accountability, and freedom from their government oppressors.
