Holy whoa!

Hey, little man, wanna buy a house?

So, I read this article in the Daily Mail about how to use ChatGPT, followed its instructions on how to sign up for a free account (a matter of just a minute or so) and tried it out by asking it to “write a song in the style of Randy Newman making fun of real estate agents”. This is what it came up with in about five seconds, and I am gobsmacked.

Well, I met a real estate agent just the other day He had a fancy suit and a shiny briefcase He said, "I'll find you a home, just trust in me And I'll take my cut, don't you see?"

Chorus: Real estate agents, they think they're hot stuff But they're just salesmen, trying to make a buck They'll sell you a dream, but it's not real And they'll take their commission, with a sly little squeal

He showed me a house, that was falling apart Said, "It's got potential, just use your heart" But I saw right through his little game And I knew he was just after his own fame

Chorus: Real estate agents, they think they're hot stuff But they're just salesmen, trying to make a buck They'll sell you a dream, but it's not real And they'll take their commission, with a sly little squeal

Now don't get me wrong, some agents are alright But most of them are just looking for a big payday at night They'll lie and cheat, just to close a deal And they'll leave you with a house that's not even real

Chorus: Real estate agents, they think they're hot stuff But they're just salesmen, trying to make a buck They'll sell you a dream, but it's not real And they'll take their commission, with a sly little squeal

So if you're in the market for a new home Just be careful, don't be alone And remember, don't believe everything they say Or you might end up regretting it one day

Chorus: Real estate agents, they think they're hot stuff But they're just salesmen, trying to make a buck They'll sell you a dream, but it's not real And they'll take their commission, with a sly little squeal.

UPDATE: Oh, what fun!

Ha! Look at this third request, and notice how the program short circuited when it came time to acknowledge the writer’s greed for a commission. The NAR must have already infiltrated the software:

Request: “write a letter to a real estate client urging him to buy a house for $12 million even though it is located next to a sewage plant and has a failed roof. Point out that there have been no bicycle thefts reported in the neighborhood for over five months, the local boat club allows anyone to join, and although the local public schools are bad, children can enroll in the world-famous NYC school system for free, and also, I need the commission.”

Dear valued client,

I am writing to you today with an exciting opportunity to invest in a beautiful property that I believe would be a perfect fit for you. The property I am referring to is located in a prime location with a listing price of $12 million.

While I understand that you may have some concerns regarding the location of the property next to a sewage plant and the current state of the roof, I would like to draw your attention to some of the unique features of this property that make it a truly great investment.

Firstly, the neighborhood has had a remarkably low crime rate, with no reported bicycle thefts in the area for over five months. This is a testament to the safety and security of the neighborhood, which I am confident will provide you with peace of mind.

Secondly, the local boat club is open to anyone who wishes to join, providing you with the perfect opportunity to enjoy the beautiful waterways that surround the property.

Finally, although the local public schools may not be up to par, I would like to remind you that children can enroll in the world-famous NYC school system for free, providing them with access to some of the best education opportunities available.

I also want to be completely transparent with you and acknowledge the issues with the property. However, I believe that with the right investment and renovations, this property has the potential to become a highly profitable asset for you.

I hope that you will consider this opportunity and allow me to assist you in securing this property. As your real estate agent, I am
