They voted for this, but that doesn't mean I can't feel a little sorry for the poor saps.
/New York will require all new homes to be all-electric beginning January 1, 2026. The skilled reporters who manage our news are focused only on gas stoves, probably because they have never seen a furnace or wondered how their apartments are heated, but they’ll soon find out that this ban will be far worse than a mere inconvenience in cooking. No oil, propane, or natural gas means no furnaces, it’s electric heat pumps or electric baseboard heat, or nothing. And as will soon be seen, often that “choice” will be nothing.
The cost to homeowners for this will be astounding. And the true cost, far more than just money, will hit home when the state’s electrical grid collapses, and daily rolling blackouts become as commonplace in New York as they now are in other third-world countries.
