A couple of quick price cuts did the trick for this charmer on the Tomac Speedway

18 Tomac Avenue, Old Greenwich, started off at $3.450 million, but quickly dropped its price, first to $3.150, and then to $2.995. It sold Friday for $2.890.

By the way, listing agent Alison Farn Leigh wasn’t boasting when she described this 1840 home: The Cornelius Ford House is a beautifully preserved historic Greek Revival home once owned by one of the prominent founding families of Greenwich. It’s true, and there are still Fords in town — I worked with Charlie Ford back during college summers and vacations, and I believe his son, Charlie, Jr. has carried on his family’s painting business. One of the family ran lobster traps from what’s now called Tomac Lane, and you can always go around the corner and visit Ford Lane, though you won’t recognize anything from 1840.
