All-out war

New York’s top lawyer filed a lawsuit accusing JBS , the world’s largest meatpacker, of lying about its impact on the environment to win over climate-conscious customers.
New York Attorney General Letitia James on Wednesday sued the Brazilian meat giant’s U.S. division, saying that JBS misled consumers with its climate goals, including its plan to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2040, to boost sales.
“JBS USA’s environmental greenwashing exploits the pocketbooks of everyday Americans and the promise of a healthy planet for future generations,” said James in a statement.
You see the angle? It is another "fraud" case similar in kind to the one used against Trump. Because there is no specific person or entity harmed, just some general claim of fraud, any award will go into the pockets of the state.
The underlying reasoning of the case is based on the claim that producing beef harms the environment that increasing the production as planned will harm the environment more, so JBS' claims that it trying to be environmentally responsible is "greenwashing." Since consumers want green products, they are being defrauded.
The case is ridiculous on its face. People who buy beef based on environmental claims are not a large class, and buy their beef from known sources they trust. And if they really worry that raising cattle is bad for the environment, they should become vegans and be done with it.
This has nothing to do with committing fraud upon the public. It is politics under the guise of consumer protection.
The New York lawsuit spotlights the meat company’s climate goals and practices that have long been criticized by environmental groups. The lawsuit also comes as environmentalists have joined to oppose the company’s planned listing on the New York Stock Exchange.
JBS is one of the top meat suppliers in the U.S. with the capacity to process more than 200,000 cattle, 500,000 hogs and 45 million chickens a week.
About half of the company’s nearly $80 billion in annual revenue comes from its U.S. operations, which are based in Colorado. About a quarter of its revenue comes from Brazil, according to recent securities filings.
Blue states have gone around the bend and have become playgrounds for progressives, who in turn are turning their states into disaster zones.
No news there. But with lawsuits like this and the one against Trump, they have the potential to do serious damage to every other state in the union. James' lawsuit against Trump is a blatant attempt to bankrupt him, the leading presidential candidate right now. It is nothing but lawfare--sort of early Putin in nature.
This lawsuit against JBS is about crippling agriculture, especially meat production, as has been happening across the Western world. Farms are being closed, and environmental regulations are taking direct aim at food production.
Eat bugs, peasants.
