no soup — or athletic scholarships for them, once the team’s disbanded. Worse, Dartmouth has reinstated the SAT as an admission requirement
I have a very good friend, graduate of a then-respected Ivy League school, who confessed to me that he’d been accepted there because of his rowing prowess: “no way, if it had depended on my grades and SATs”. If varsity sports disappear — and for all but a few schools, sports are a money-loser — that admissions avenue will no longer exist for many young, jocks.
