Reminder: California banned the sale of gasoline-powered snowblowers manufactured after January 1st of this year.
/Sierra Nevadas: Another 2-4’ of snow is expected atop the 7’ that’s already fallen. That’s less than the storm that last year dumped 12’, so … progress!
And banned generators as of January 2028.
This may cause difficulties up there.
Electric snow blowers are a good option when you need to clear snow no more than a foot deep. Since electric models are lightweight, they are good for cleaning off both walkways and driveways, along with decks and patios where many gas-powered models won’t fit.
Uh oh — remember that ban on generators? They would have been handy for recharging that puny snowblower, eh?
Battery-powered models are a good choice if you have a small to medium space to clear since you’ll be trading performance for convenience. Battery models start instantly and are best suited for light snow in a space where you’d usually just reach for a shovel. While they’re more mobile than corded snow blowers, you’re also at the mercy of the snow blower’s battery life, which typically lasts for about 45 minutes. However, most offer fast charging in under an hour.
Of course, Governor Noisome has also banned wood stoves, so once your power goes out, you’ll probably have frozen to death long before you have to worry about digging out, so it’s a win-win: the econuts have long wished for a reduction of our surplus population.
Fortunately, global warming is making snowfalls a thing of the past, so the survivors of the coming apocalypse shouldn’t have too much to worry about by, say, 2099.
