Traitor to be released today? NBC advocates for exactly that

With all the significant fake news stories out there yesterday, not to mention real news like the CIA leaking fake news to the press in order to eliminate the threat to its hegemony it sees in Trump, this particular editorial from NBC News posing as "reporting" will doubtless go unnoticed, but it does offer up a perfect illustration of why the press should be completely distrusted.

It purports to report on Bradley Manning's being on Obama's "short list" for commuting sentences - it is instead a long, long editorial arguing why the soldier should be pardoned. To quote specific quotes doesn't make the point, which is that there is nothing in that isn't a plea for the commutation of the soldier's sentence - nothing. It is comprised solely of quotes from (anonymous) intelligence "experts" minimizing the damage Manning's release of 700,000 pages of military files and diplomatic cables to Wikileaks caused, an explanation of his troubled youth as a transvestite from his lawyers, and a plea for leniency from his aunt.

And there's nothing wrong with any of that, in an editorial: we do have freedom of speech in the United States, despite the Left's demands. But when a once-respected news source presents editorial content as legitimate reporting, it destroys its credibility.
