Cruel and unnecessary punishment

College basketball coaches want to end SAT requirement for their black one-year visiting athletes. And why not? The farce that pretends these ill-tempered children are there to get an education should have ended decades ago. Big college programs offer a one-year finishing school for kids who have no academic skills but can bounce a ball; the schools get rich, the coaches get even richer, the kids get squat and the NBA gets a minor league system, gratis. What does the SAT have to do with any of that?

But do remind me of the reason these entertainment programs aren’t taxed like any other for-profit business.
