Beneath the scare headlines, there are two interesting developments

Record number of Covid cases reported in Virginia, D.C., and Maryland after the weekend.

Development One:

Maryland reported 5,376 new cases Monday, on top of more than 15,000 during the weekend, and has not yet returned to reporting deaths because of a cyberattack that affected the state’s health department. (Cyberattack? I hadn’t heard about that.*) The District reported 9,200 cases and two deaths from Dec. 23 to 26," the newspaper wrote.

But this is the part I find ironic:

The Post said that many who had tested positive had been among the large crowds lined up to get tested before the holiday

As an aside, I’d be curious to know how many previously-untested people were frightened into the Q-Tip lines because of the government and its panic porn lackeys in the press broadcasting hysterical warnings. If, say, the number of tests double, I’d expect a spike in reported cases, too.

*I looked it up: the thieves hit on December 5, three days after Omicron was first reported in the state, and the system is still offline. Cyber ransom is hinted at, but not, apparently, publicly confirmed.
