Walt's house hits the market

15 Laub Pond Road, $2.995 million.

As I mentioned here previously, Bob a/k/a “Walt” Lynch died unexpectedly (unexpected by me, certainly) last January. He was a mainstay of the FWIW comments section for years, beginning when his namesake Walter Noell surfaced as the Round Hill partner of Bernie Madoff. I still miss him.

Now his house is on the market, and the listing agent is playing an unusual twist:

Bob’s daughter, superstar Meghan Lynch swam here. Hey, it works for me: I’ve been following the kid’s career since she was 8 or maybe even younger, when her very, very proud father began sending along clippings detailing her latest accomplishments and victories. She’s at Stanford this year, I think, and I hope and expect that we’ll be hearing about her for years to come. So her pool as a selling point? Why not?

Some years ago Bob invited me up there to have coffee and give him a price opinion. The coffee was excellent, but because of the home’s location and style, I wasn’t able to give him good news on what he might expect to get for it. But that was in 2010 or so, and things have changed since then. Listing agent Mark Pruner claims to think so, and I hope he’s right.

According to Pruner, the contemporary home is a “desirable” style among house hunters shopping in Fairfield County.

“The house is a statement house for its time,” he said. “[It’s] the sort of thing that has come back into vogue strongly with COVID: a large lot on a cul-de-sac with modern styling, which is what many of the folks from New York want.”
