And the plan’s a doozy. Nine buildings to be razed to make way for a seven-story, 192-unit apartment building. The buildings to go include “Town House Restaurant”, nee Gabrieli’s, nee Luca’s, a pair of medical buildings, and a number of single and two-family homes.

“The intent is to create a contextual architectural design that will blend with the adjacent Fourth Ward neighborhood”, Cabrera’s attorney Chip Haslun avows.

Uh huh. The developers are filing under CT’s 8-30g “moderate income housing” law, which overrides most provisions of local zoning regulations, so the upcoming fireworks show should prove quite entertaining.

“Elegant, without being overly ostentatious. In fact, you’ll probably never even know it’s there.”
