A surprising story underneath the headline

Justin Rivera, Wilbert Mora.

Mother of (now-dead) Harlem cop killer “regrets ever making 911 call”.

I clicked on the link expecting to see “the cops killed my baby without justification” bullshit that these killings usually inspire, but no: she was apologizing to the parents of the cops, and her “regret” was because it resulted in their deaths (one dead already, the other has a bullet lodge in his brain and “it doesn’t look good”).

The mother of accused cop-killer Lashawn McNeil told The Post on Monday she wishes she never made the 911 call that led a pair of NYPD officers into a deadly ambush.

“If I knew, I never would have made the phone call,” said the mom, whose plea to 911 about her mentally unstable son brought officers to the Harlem home Friday evening — when an armed McNeil allegedly opened fire on them without warning.

“I would never have called!” Sourzes said.

“I would like to say to Mr. and Mrs. [Rivera] that I am deeply sorry,” the mom said through tears. “I know that there is not words that I can express. Your pain. Your sorrow.

Her words of remorse don’t make the tragedy any better, but it’s such a relief not to see a grieving murderer’s mother weeping in front of TV cameras, Al Sharpton at her side, and yelling about police brutality.
