Sale Price Reported

76 Milbank Avenue, $2,382,500 on a final asking price of $2.495. The owner set it upon the waters of commerce in July priced at $2.675 million, and didn’t drop it to its last asking price until mid-September, after the lives and the market had begun to turn. A lower starting price might have yielded a better result.

The buyers are mid-town Manhattanits, naturally (10023 Zip). It’s certainly better for a town to prosper rather than decline, but as prices in all the older neighborhoods get jacked-up into the higher registers, it’s clear that our newcomers are not only far richer than the former owners who are selling out and fleeing south, but they’re bringing their NYC values and political beliefs with them, as evidenced by last week’s election results.

But that’s all right, the folks they’re buying from can laugh all the way to their banks in Florida.
