Pending off Clapboard Ridge

The owners paid $10.2 for it in 2001, which would be $16,059,246 in 2022 dollars, so no home run here, but still a sizable sum. The listing describes it as “tucked away from the main road”, but that’s just Joe Barbieri waxing poetic — the rest of us would call it a back lot.

This raises the Bishop Berkeley's poser, “if a mega-mansion sits so far back from the road that no one can see it, does it really proclaim one’s importance at all?” The late owner of this property was distinguished in his own right and so obviously didn’t care, but will the new owner have an ego strong enough to live with the ignominy of a hidden house? If we see the homes in front of it razed in the next few years, we’ll have the answer.
