The better question is, are we moving to "free" college and graduate schooling?
/What’s the logic here? If the government is going to write off $1.7 trillion in existing debt for college graduates, why shouldn’t currently enrolled students be entitled to the same beneficence? There’s nothing special about the class of students who graduated before COVID — AOC, for instance, graduated from BU (John Silber is still spinning in his grave) in 2011, yet she’ll get her debt extinguished, while a 2023 graduate will not? Why?
The tactic is the same as is used for all Leftist programs: set the precedent, get a general idea accepted, and then turn it up, from one to eleven. From the momentous to the trivial, from the first income tax to the first gay marriage, the beat goes on.
