Sometimes the right price is a better house mover than a Chinaman bearing the flu

20 Sherwood Avenue, which started at $12.5 million in 2016 and finally dropped to $7.850 in January 2021, has found a buyer. Is the accepted offer below $7.850? Well, certainly, if I were advising a bidder on a house that had sat on the market for six years, I’d suggest floating a number less than ask.

Then again, even discounting for a difference in taste: the owner/builder is Eastern European, this is a huge amount of house for the money compared to what many other houses in this general price range are offering for approximately the same price. I can see its appeal, to the right buyer. I’m not being mean, I don’t think, to suggest that it might be a home The Donald would like.
