November, here we come

Biden on Monkeypox: Outbreak should concern 'everybody,' as health experts are baffled

I’m disappointed, but not surprised, that Fox has joined in the panic — it employs the same quality of juvenile, ignorant reporters and editors as the rest of the whore mongering media.

AFRICAN SCIENTISTS BAFFLED BY MONKEYPOX CASES IN EUROPE, US

While there are at least 80 confirmed cases of the disease worldwide and another 50 suspected cases, the U.S. has only confirmed a pair of cases after a man in Massachusetts was diagnosed with the disease. Another man in New York City also tested positive for monkeypox.

Cases have been reported in Britain, Spain, Portugal, Italy, the United States, Sweden, and Canada, all by individuals who reportedly had no travel history with Africa. France, Germany, Belgium, and Australia also reported confirmed cases this week.

While no monkeypox-related deaths have been reported, the worldwide phenomenon has baffled medical experts.

"I’m stunned by this. Every day I wake up and there are more countries infected," said Oyewale Tomori, a virologist and World Health Organization advisory board member.

Christian Happi, director of the African Centre of Excellence for Genomics of Infectious Diseases, similarly said he’s "never seen anything like what's happening in Europe."

According to WHO estimates, monkeypox could be fatal for up to one-in-ten people, though its similarity to the smallpox virus allows smallpox vaccinations to provide some [85%, but who’s counting? — Ed.] protection.

So, that’s how the monkey business is being prepped for mass consumption by the gullible. What’s being buried? Well, this, for one:

“The British Health Security Agency had previously reported four cases they said had spread among gay and bisexual men in London.”

Dr. Susan Hopkins, chief medical adviser of Britain’s Health Security Agency, said the latest cases, alongside the other infections reported in Europe, “confirms our initial concerns that there could be spread of monkeypox within our communities.”

The agency said recent cases had been seen “predominantly in gay, bisexual or men who have sex with men,” although it noted it was unclear how exactly people had been infected.

Monkeypox has not previously been documented to have spread through sex, but can be transmitted through close contact with infected people, their clothing or bedsheets.

Earlier this week the U.K. agency reported four cases of monkeypox they said had been spread among gay and bisexual men in London. The agency said the risk to the general population “remains low.”

Health authorities in Spain’s central Madrid region said late Wednesday that they were assessing 23 possible cases of monkeypox. They said that all of the suspected cases are young men and that the majority of them had sex with other men.

And this: to repeat what we posted here yesterday, here’s an excerpt from an Atlantic article on the disease:

…. [T]here’s already a vaccine. One smallpox vaccine is 85 percent effective at preventing monkeypox and has already been licensed for use against the virus. And as another bioterrorism precaution, stockpiles of three smallpox vaccines are large enough “to vaccinate basically everyone in the U.S.” Inglesby said. And though monkeypox patients usually get just supportive care, a possible treatment does exist and has also been stockpiled: Tecovirimat, or TPOXX, was developed to treat smallpox but would likely work for monkeypox too.

Monkeypox may also be less deadly than is frequently claimed. The oft-cited fatality rate of about 10 percent applies to a strain that infected people in the Congo Basin. The West African strain, which several of the current cases have been linked to, has a fatality rate closer to 1 percent—and that’s in poor, rural populations. “We haven’t seen fatalities in people who’ve had monkeypox in high-resource settings,” Rimoin said.

Earlier this week, Tucker Carlson and the rest of the tinfoil hat brigade were roundly denounced by all proper-thinking people for alerting us to the upcoming ceding of authority to the W.H.O. by the Biden administration. According to the right-wing alarmists, the voluntary relinquishment of power will allow the W.H.O., and the W.H.O alone, the power to declare a pandemic, and “a health crisis”, with accompanying mandates for “health passports” for all, and sanctions against countries that don’t follow the WHO’s mandates.

“Oh, we’d never agree to that”, say the people who are facing a bloodbath in November and the loss of their control over the House and the Senate”. Uh-huh.
