And next week, the lights

Bed, Bath & Beyond is shutting down the air conditioning in its stores to save cash

I’ve only been in a BB&B twice, the first time shortly after one opened it Norwalk in, what, the 90s? It was okay, and I found what I wanted, but didn’t return. The next, and what is now obviously destined to be the last time was in Portland Maine a year ago when I simply wanted to examine a particular coffee grinder to see how to fix my own. They not only didn’t have one on the shelf, but the store itself seemed to have been squeezed to a third of its original size, with two narrow aisles, goods jammed onto the remaining shelves, and no - not a single one — sales clerks on the floor; just a bored teen at the cash register. Doomed.

(5 minutes ago): BB&B CEO was just defenestrated. Did he turn out the lights as he flew past?
