It's finally sold

532 North Street, last asking price $5.850 million, has sold for $5.250. The buyer’s Zip is shown as 11954, but unless a Montauk fisherman has inexplicably struck it rich, that’s probably an accommodation address.

The sellers paid $4.550 for this property in 2005, tried for $5.750 in 2013, and kept trying until they quit in February 2021, by which time its price has dropped to $3.395.

Undeterred, they apparently brought in a new decorator, who applied that Bloomingdale’s East Side look, and began again this past May. It worked, at last.

What may have ultimately been the prime mover here was this daring reimagining of The Zebra.
