New listing on upper Stanwich

534 Stanwich Road, a back lot found just before Stanwich’s junction with Taconic, and across from Crown Lane, is for sale as of today for $4.5 million. Built in 1988, it took until 1991 before this buyer appeared, and bought it for $2.5.

To my taste, the late 80s saw some of the worst of Greenwich architecture, and this house exemplifies that, but that’s just my personal opinion. Who knows? Maybe there’ll be a revival of that style in the future. I do not, however, believe we’ll be seeing a new passion for ’80s kitchens and baths: in Greenwich, those two rooms are considered dated after a decade, no matter what decade we’re talking about, and these two are as stale as the avocado refrigerators of the 1970s.
