/Many states (most? Connecticut is one, anyway) won’t allow self-help remedies such as removing doors or turning off the heat to force tenants out of your property if you voluntarily let them in in the first place — you’ll be prosecuted for committing a “criminal lockout” — nor will the police step in on what’s deemed a “civil matter”. Trespassing squatters are afforded that same immunity in New York, apparently. I haven’t checked, but it wouldn’t surprise me if our Hartford Democrats have joined the Empire State in the war against property owners.
