The marketplace says "Nyet"

No one wanted it at $14.5 million, so 18 Simmons Lane has been cut to $12.995 million.

Here’s the history of this house which I posted last fall — this may not be a net-zero blog, but we do believe in recycling:

Val and Olga have gone public

After trying for a year to sell it quietly and privately to the “those in the know” crowd, Russian oligarch Valerie Kogan and his wife Olga have set aside their pride and put the old wreck at 18 Simmons Lane on the MLS for $14.5 million (the link shows a $24.5 million price tag, but that’s if you want it redone before purchase — the penny pinchers among you will probably want to take it on as a DIY, and fork over just $14.5). It sits on seven acres, and the Kogans originally paid $18.5 for it in 2008, but unless the Ukranian war has gone badly for them, they can probably take the hit without flinching.

I wrote about their efforts to unload the place last year here: Retreat to Moscow, and linked to a lengthy article from NY Magazine dated 2009 that detailed the history of Olga and hubby‘s ultimately thwarted efforts to raze the existing 25,400 sq.ft. ( the tax card suggests 19,000) derelict and replace it with a 54,000 sq. ft. dacha, replete with 26 toilets. It was an entertaining battle while it lasted, and it lasted for years.
