188 Stanwich Road, $4.4 million. One of a number of old, classic homes on this stretch of Stamwich, this one was built in 1936 and, of course, updated and renovated during the ensuing years. As recently as 2021, when these owners bought it ($3.495), it had “a really cool bomb shelter in the basement”. I hope it’s still there, because, it would indeed be pretty cool, and (b) it might come in handy in the future.

Just as an aside, I continue to wonder at the short ownership periods of so many homes in Greenwich. It’s been a phenomenon at least since the 60s when I was growing up (in years, at least), and it’s still with us. What a peripatetic crowd we are.
