/Breitbart claims that Google is interfering with the election by suppressing and burying conservative sites, and they are.
Breitbart tested the search monopoly a number of times, using the exact wording of Breitbart headline,
Maskless Nancy Pelosi Goes to San Francisco Hair Salon Despite Coronavirus Restrictions
I tried it myself. First I used my default search engine, DuckduckGo, and here’s what it produced, with Breitbart on top.
Then I tried the same search using Google. The results are shown below. No Breitbart mention, period. I scrolled through the first fifty results returned by Google, and nada. I’m guessing it never appeaars.
And according to Breitbart, theirs is not the only conservative site being suppressed by Google this election season.
Back in 2012 Google rejected a proposed consent agreement proffered by the FTC…
The FTC’s offer, which has not previously been reported, came in the form of a consent agreement that carried no admission of guilt for Google if it would agree to rein in some of its controversial search practices.
Those included Google’s scraping of content from third-party websites like Yelp to use on its own platforms without linking back to those sites, and restrictions the FTC claimed Google created to prevent advertisers from doing business with rival search engines, sources said.
The offer — led by then-FTC chairman Jon Leibowitz, a Democrat — was soundly rejected.
“Google resisted everything,” a source with knowledge of the events told The Post. “They said, ‘We don’t think you have the votes to sue.’ ”
By alienating Republican free marketers, Google may now be in line to reap its just deserts.
